Tips for Inspecting your Roof

The hot days of summer are here! As our homes endure the heat and experience the heavy rains from severe thunderstorms, we thought it’d be helpful to release a blog that gives homeowners a few simple tips on how to quickly inspect and observe the condition of their roof. Getting into a consistent routine of checking in on your roof can keep you from having to make more expensive repairs down the road and increase the lifespan of your roof.

We know that it’s not always easy to determine the actual condition of your roof, so here are 5 quick tips on how you can inspect your roof and know when it might need some extra attention!

Step 1: Walk Through. Do an overall sweep of the home, internal, and external. Simply walk around and take note of anything that seems out of place or incorrect.

Step 2: Debris Check. Look for any type of debris build-up (especially around the gutters). Debris build-up can cause blockages that lead to leaks and mold.

Step 3: Rot Check. Make sure to pay close attention to your gutters and roof overhangs, checking for any signs of rot. Though it may not seem like a big issue at the time, it could be a huge indicator of a much larger problem.

Step 4: Inspect for any curled, lifted or missing shingles. This makes it difficult for your roof to protect against weather-related circumstances.

Step 5: Take note of any granule loss. You can do this by evaluating the texture of your shingles to see if they have deteriorated. If they have, this means your roof is not protecting your home to the best of its ability, especially in extreme weather circumstances.

If you have found any signs of wear or damage on your roof during your inspection, we highly recommend contacting a roofing professional immediately. You are more than welcome to reach out to our team to talk about your concerns. Our professional Columbus roofers can provide a comprehensive roof inspection to determine the condition of your roof and make recommendations for repairs that will prevent further damage.

Taking care of your roof is so important, and we’re here to help make that possible with ease. Thinking about issues like roof damage and roof repairs can be overwhelming, but we want our customers to feel understood in their concerns, and taken care of.
